The course Benefits, installation, maintenance and deconstruction of green roofs has been developed in the framework of the European project Erasmus+ Nature Based Solutions: training in green roofs for urban and building sustainability, by Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, Instituto de Robótica y Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (IRTIC), attached to the University of Valencia (Spain), Laboratorio Nacional de Energia e Geología (Portugal) Pedmede Somateioe (Greece) and Scuola Edile Piacenza (Italy).
It has a duration of 70 hours, divided into the following four Modules, which can be taken independently:
Module 1 - Global awareness of green roofs. Essential training module to gain an insight into the benefits of green roofs not only to improve the energy bills of the building, but also to the urban climate and biodiversity.
Module 2 - Installation of green roofs. Module on the steps to follow to install different solutions depending on the types of roofs.
Module 3 - Maintenance of green roofs. Module on how to maintain the different elements of these roofs: vegetation, installations, etc.
Module 4 - Deconstruction of green roofs. Module on how to deconstruct a green roof to install a new one and how to deconstruct a common roof to install a green roof.
This course is open to all interested individuals; however, it is especially designed for professionals such as roofers, gardeners, waterproofing installers, and plumbers who are looking to requalify or gain new skills.
Delivered via the Moodle platform, the course is available in the project’s five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Greek. It includes interactive activities that help participants consolidate their acquired knowledge.
This guide provides instructions on how to register, navigate through the modules, and complete the course. Additionally, the NaturBuild Consortium has agreed that full completion of the course is equivalent to 3 ECVET credits, as specified on the issued certificates.
